Female Match Officials Shine at NTC Challenge

Football Federation SA Match Officials Maddison Kennedy and Isabella Blaess were recently appointed as Match Officials on the National Training Centre (NTC) Challenge Final, which was held in Canberra from 25-29 August at the Australian Institute of Sport.

Maddison was appointed as Referee and Isabella as Assistant Referee 1 in a match which involved the two highest ranked teams for the tournament, South Australia and Northern New South Wales.

Commenting on the standard of the tournament and being appointed to referee the final, Maddison stated, "The games were of an exceptional quality and the final was of no exception. It was such a privilege for Izzi (Isabella) and I to be selected for the final and to represent FFSA on this final as match officials. Refereeing the final was certainly a highlight of the tournament."

The intensive and informative coaching received throughout the tournament by Elite Referee Coaches appointed by Football Federation Australia was of an extremely beneficial nature.

Isabella said, "The knowledge that the Elite Referee coaches have passed on was exceptional. Learning from them has improved my on field performance tremendously".

With the Westfield W-League in season and with Maddison being appointed on the Assistant Referee Panel for her third season, she noted that, "The referee coaches provided us with valuable information both on and off the field. I am excited to implement this new knowledge both locally and for the upcoming Westfield W-League season".

Football Federation SA congratulates Maddison and Isabella on their achievements and wish them well in their future endeavours as match officials.
