World Cup Soccer Day

Over 200 participants were in attendance, with FFSA Game Development Officers providing skills sessions as well as coaching the teams in their mini-tournament. Former Adelaide United Striker Cristiano and Western Border Coach Cameron Craig also assisted on the day.

Cameron recently took part in a similar event for 80 participants in Mount Gambier.

Nicolle Hancock from Special Olympics said she was delighted with the event.

"Football Federation has been a huge help in the organisation of our annual ‘World Cup Soccer Day’ held on June the 9th," she said.

"With over 150 Intellectually Disabled students registered to participate, FFSA coaches have stepped up to the challenge of teaching them the basic skills of football. The ongoing support, not only with the World Cup Soccer Day but other football events throughout the year has been phenomenal – a partnership Special Olympics SA does not take for granted."

Adelaide United striker Sergio van Dijk, along with Iain Ramsay and Cameron Watson were also present to help present awards.
