James Troisi called up to Qantas Socceroos
Qantas Socceroos Head Coach Holger Osieck has selected a squad of 23-players for the upcoming international friendly matches against New Zealand and Serbia, presented by Optus, which will be played at the Adelaide Oval (Sunday 5th June) and Etihad Stadium (Tuesday 7th June) respectively.

Lead by Qantas Socceroos Captain Lucas Neill, twelve of the players that were part of the squad that recently defeated Germany 2-1 in an international friendly in Monchengladbach have been named in the current selection.

Melbourne Victory striker Archie Thompson has been rewarded for his performances in the AFC Champions League with his first selection under Holger Osieck and his first appearance since playing against Kuwait in Canberra last year.

South Australian James Troisi returns to the Qantas Socceroos squad after last playing against China in 2008 along with Queenslanders Dario Vidosic and Michael Zullo.

Goalkeepers Adam Federici and Nathan Coe are also named in the Qantas Socceroos squad along with Japanese-based players Alex Brosque, Josh Kennedy, Mark Milligan and Matthew Spiranovic.

Rhys Williams makes his long awaited return to the Qantas Socceroos following a successful recovery from a groin injury that ruled him out of contention to play at the 2010 FIFA World Cup and sidelined him for a large part of the past 12 months.

Tim Cahill, David Carney, Harry Kewell and Mark Schwarzer were unavailable for selection due to injury concerns.

The Qantas Socceroos history of playing New Zealand dates back to 1922 when the two teams first met in Dunedin on the 17th June. Since then, the Qantas Socceroos hold the edge with 37 wins compared to the All-Whites 10 with 11 draws recorded. The last time these teams met was last year prior to the 2010 FIFA World Cup when the Qantas Socceroos came from a goal down to eventually win 2-1 at the MCG.

This will be only the second time that the Qantas Socceroos will meet Serbia, who are currently ranked 16th in the FIFA World Rankings, having previously met in the group stage of the 2010 FIFA World Cup in South Africa in Nelspruit.
