Football Federation SA will host up to six Qantas Socceroos and 200 local school children in its first major event at the new Burton Football Complex on Thursday, June 2.

The eight to 10-year-old students will participate in a Cottees 5-a-side event from 10am to 2pm before greeting the Qantas Socceroos, including South Australian James Troisi, between 2pm and 3pm.

The Year 3-4 students from Rostrevor College, Karrendi Primary School, Nailsworth Primary School, Burton Primary, Modbury South Primary School, Kaurna Plains School, Fairview Park Primary School and Wandana Primary School will enjoy photo and autograph opportunities with the Qantas Socceroos.

Football Federation SA's Game Development Staff will be on hand to coordinate the event while some catering will also be available.

Football Federation SA's Burton Park Complex boasts three full-size floodlit pitches and five change rooms, a 200-seat grandstand and a 200-seat function centre capable of hosting weddings, corporate functions, community events and birthdays.

The facility will host the State Talent Identification Championships in July, the Secondary Schools National Championships in August and the Australian Masters Games in October, as well as future Adelaide United Youth and Women's League matches.

Football Federation SA is expecting Burton Park to be officially handed over from the City Of Salisbury during the next fortnight and CEO Michael Carter said the new complex is set to boost local football in South Australia.

"The Community facility at Burton Park will provide Football Federation SA, Clubs, Associations and the football community with a high quality venue, able to host significant local events and mass participation events," he said.

"And I'm looking forward to seeing the hundreds of children on the pitches tomorrow."
