Qantas Socceroos inspire Blue Eagles win

Qantas Socceroos captain Lucas Neill tossed the coin at Marden Sports Complex on Saturday for the FFSA Devine Super League Round 9 match between Adelaide Blue Eagles and Campbelltown City.

Organised in partnership with Football Federation Australia, Football Federation SA and the two clubs, Neill and Qantas Socceroos team-mates Robbie Kruse and Adam Federici were also present to meet and greet the players of both sides before kick-off.

ABE club President Rep Giordano, Cambelltown City club President Mario Scalzi and FFSA CEO Michael Carter accompanied the Qantas Socceroos trio into the middle of the pitch for a photo opportunity with both teams, before Neill tossed the coin with ABE captain Gino De Lucia and Campbelltown captain Michael D'Alosio.

Blue Eagles ran out 1-0 winners after Kym Harris found the back of the net 10 minutes into the second half.

ABE President Giordano acknowledged the Qantas Socceroos visit was a spectacular event for local football in South Australia.

"I think it was a fantastic event for the clubs to have the Socceroos here - especially the captain," he said.

"It was very, very good."

Campbelltown president Mario Scalzi applauded the efforts of the FFSA, FFA and the two clubs for making the event such a success.

"Everyone worked overtime for this to happen on such short notice, so a big congratulations to FFSA CEO Michael and everyone at the FFSA for making this happen," he said.

"Both Rep and I met the captain of the Socceroos and the players and they all had plenty of questions about the local game."

"It was very exciting for the public to see them out here and it was really important they were here. It was a fantastic promotion for our local game."
