Jason Trimboli has been appointed Head Coach of Football Federation South Australia's Over 35 squad that will compete in the King Cup in Las Vegas, Nevada in January 2012.

Trimboli captained the squad in the 2011 tournament where SA were knocked out in the Semi-Finals losing to Avanti FC 6-5 on penalties.

The FFSA six-time Golden Boot winner said he was delighted to have been selected as coach and is looking to go one better this tournament.

Trimboli player-coached Campbelltown City to sixth in the FFSA Devine Super League in his debut season as coach and will join Raiders in 2012 as Mike Barnett's assistant.

"Obviously I'm over the moon to have been appointed," he said.

"I'm looking forward to using the skills I've learnt as coach this season and conduct the SA State team over in Vegas."

"I'm hoping to draw on last tournament's experience and create an even better experience this time around."

Trimboli admitted he will still be pulling on the boots in Vegas but is hoping to strengthen the side to limit his time on the field.

In the 2011 tournament, the 400-plus game veteran netted four times in the 6-4 win against Hollywood United, catching the attention of Adelaide-born Hollywood actor Anthony La Paglia who invited 'Trimmers' to remain in the United States with his squad.

"I'll still be playing, I'll love playing in the tournament but if we can put together a stronger team I won't have to play as much," he said.

"I'm not sure if he was serious or tongue in cheek, but Anthony La Paglia invited me to stay on with his team."

The King Cup is a Men’s Over 35 Recreational Tournament held annually, attracting over 145 teams each year.

Players wishing to trial for the squad should express their interest to FFSA Game Development Manager John Mundy at john.mundy@ffsa.com.au
