Devine Super League side Raiders will celebrate their 60^th Anniversary this year and to mark the occasion, the club has extended an invitation to former National Soccer League side Melbourne Knights.

The two clubs will play a friendly, pre-season exhibition match on Saturday, January 28 at the Croatian Sports Centre, kicking-off at 6pm.

Raiders was founded in 1952 under the name of Adelaide Croatia Soccer Club and quickly before one of South Australia’s most prominent sides.

They have enjoyed much success since their inception, claiming five first division titles and 10 Federation Cup titles with the last arriving in 2003.

Raiders continue to be one of the State’s most followed clubs with huge support coming from SA’s Croatian community where the ties to the club’s heritage remain as strong as ever. 

Club Chairman Alan Vrbanac acknowledged the significance of the milestone and admitted everyone involved with Raiders, past and present, is excited by the year ahead.

“We look forward to kicking off our 60^th anniversary celebrations by hosting one of our interstate sister clubs, the Melbourne Knights,” he said.

“This season we plan to have several events to commemorate a long and rich history for the club, one of which we are all proud to be a part of. The club has seen many successful players, coaches and teams, of all nationalities, throughout the years, as well as our many loyal supporters and volunteers who have made the club what it is today.”

“The passing of our President, Ivica Jurkovic, late last year, makes this season even more special as he was passionate about the club celebrating its heritage this year as well as looking to the future to grow and add to the successes of our past.”
