FFSA and AUFC unite for Community Football

Football Federation SA and Adelaide United will join together to forge a partnership for the delivery of Community Football Programs across South Australia.

The partnership will see Adelaide United players attend the various community programs conducted by FFSA Game Development Staff, including Primary School Clinics, Club Visits, Disability, New Arrival and Indigenous Programs and Regional Visits to SA’s seven associations.

With FFSA attending to almost 40,000 children through its Primary School clinics in 2011, the initiative will further strengthen Adelaide United’s connection with the community and its young fans.

AUFC Chairman Greg Griffin admitted he was delighted with the new partnership.

“This is fabulous. The partnership is set to be the blueprint for A-League clubs,” he said.

“The branding of our club across the community and grass roots clubs will enhance the relationship we have with people who love this sport.”

“Long time sponsors have told me they have been waiting for this to happen for a long, long time and now that it is we really have to appreciate all the good work the FFSA has done in establishing the programs.”

FFSA Community Development staff will carry the Adelaide United brand as well as gifting merchandise and other giveaways, assisting in the promotion of South Australia’s flagship team.

FFSA CEO Michael Carter acknowledged the new partnership will be a rewarding experience for the South Australian football community.

“Adelaide United is the highest profile team in the state and carrying that well established brand through community football is fantastic,” he said.

“The participation in the Community Football Programs by the Adelaide United players will increase participation and awareness with nearly 40,000 young children provided the opportunity to meet and greet their A-League heroes.”
