Lloyd Owusu happy to be back

Former Adelaide United striker Lloyd Owusu admitted he is delighted to be back in Adelaide, returning to South Australia for the first time since 2010 after signing for Devine Premier League side White City.

Owusu celebrated his debut for White City with a goal on Saturday night but wasn’t able to prevent defeat as the Warriors went down 4-2 to Para Hills at Frank Mitchell Park.

Despite the loss, Owusu was pleased with finding the back of the net and remains confident about the season ahead after White City impressed in Round 1 with a come-from-behind 5-3 win over South Adelaide.

“It’s always great to score goals; that’s what I’m here to do,” he said.

“I love scoring goals at no matter what level of football you play. Losing the game was a bit of a disappointment, especially after the week before – I heard the boys had done so well from being 3-1 down to come back and show resilience.”

“Hopefully we can improve on the weekend against Modbury and get the three points.”

Aside from getting on the score sheet every other week, Owusu is also hoping to have an impact off the pitch at White City.

“That is something I looked at when I came here,” he said.

“I had a lot of dialogue with Milan (Sofranic), the Football Director here, and he said there was a huge infrastructure here from grassroots all the way up.”

“So if my input, my being here can help in anyway, I’d be more than delighted to do that.”

Owusu joins White City after a spell with Luton Town in the UK and the former Ghana international revealed he is delighted to have returned to Adelaide.

Owusu suggested the lifestyle Adelaide will provide for his young family was instrumental in the decision to come back, while football will remain a large part of his future.

“It’s great to be back, I’ve always had a soft spot for Adelaide from when I was here the first time in 2009,” he said.

“I met some great people so it was an easy decision. When I got back to the UK I thought about the next chapter of my career and it is to look at the next 30 years and what I want to do.”

“It’s all about family life style now. Hopefully I can come here, enjoy that, enjoy some football and get started on some coaching.”

“There’s nothing better than coming back to Adelaide so hopefully we settle in really nice.”

White City has also welcomed a new major sponsor with Peter Jurkovic's Epic storage company joining the club.
