Adelaide United midfielder Katherine Ebbs has become the latest Lady Reds player to land a gig overseas after she was awarded a three-year scholarship at Embry Riddle Aeronautical University in Daytona Beach, Florida.

Ebbs, who scored the only goal in the Lady Reds 1-0 win over Perth Glory last season to break a three-year winless drought, joins former team-mate Marijana Rajcic in moving abroad, with the striker now plying her trade in Sweden.

The 19-year-old, who enjoyed a breakout season in the W-League, will study Business at ERAU and is looking forward to beginning a new chapter in her life and footballing career.

“It’s a huge University, not just academically but for football. They have a really strong football setup,” she said.

“I’m feeling very nervous but excited at the same time to start a new life in America. I think the experience will be amazing and one that I don’t think I could have given up.”

Ebbs enjoyed time at SASI and scored in the 2011 Adelaide Airport Cup Final against Adelaide City where her side Adelaide Olympic ran out 4-2 winners.

The midfielder is hoping her time at the University will assist in her development in football and see her achieve her goal of signing a professional contract in Europe.

“I’m really hoping the experience will help me grow as a player,” she said.

“The W-League was fantastic for my development and I’m hoping this can take me to another level. I would definitely love to be able to play in England one day; that is probably one of my goals.”
