Masters League 30-year Anniversary

Season 2012 sees the Masters Soccer League (over 35s competition) celebrating its 30th year of competition.

In April 1982, six teams participated in the inaugural season of the Veterans League.

Beograd won the league and cup double beating Noarlunga to both trophies.

In the ensuing years the number of teams has increased to the 20 teams that currently comprise the two divisions of the Masters League competition.

After a couple of name changes and venue shifts, the SAMSL matches are played at Barrett Reserve West Beach and the Adelaide High School.

It is planned that the Masters League Division 1 champions will take part in the Association Challenge Cup later this year.

The League will formally celebrate its 30 year anniversary at a dinner to be held at the British Hotel, North Adelaide on 7 September 2012.

The League is looking forward to a bright future with new teams showing interest in expanding the competition which may also include an over 45s division.
