Adelaide City win Adelaide Airport Women's Premier League Championship

Adelaide City WFC has claimed the 2012 Adelaide Airport Women’s Premier League finishing top of the table with 47 points.

Adelaide University finished second, a point behind City, while MUWFC Magic secured third on 44 points and Fulham United rounded out the top four on 35 points.

Despite losing a host of senior players before the start of the season, City relied heavily on youth this campaign and exceeded all expectations.

Captain Michelle Male admitted the club was delighted with winning the championship given the relative inexperience of much of the squad.

Male also applauded the efforts of coach Edoardo Rosso

“We’re really ecstatic. Especially because we started the season with such a young team,” she said.

“Six of last season’s strongest XI quit at the end of the year so no one really gave us a chance this season.”

“The young girls that came in brought new enthusiasm to the team and training and Edoardo did a great job as always. He kept everyone fit and firing.”
