As part of Football Federation SA’s ongoing regional development the FFSA Game Development team recently headed to the Copper Coast township of Moonta. A coaching clinic was organised for the children and a Grassroots Coaching Certificate for aspiring coaches. 

FFSA Game Development Manager John Mundy said, “The key to successful Regional Programs is a sustainable partnership with proactive people from the local community”. “This was an area where we had previously tried to organise clinics and through the persistence of local resident Tracey Cutting and the enthusiasm and drive from newly appointed Moonta Area School Principle Kirsty Amos, the dream became a reality”.

Kirsty was delighted with the turnout. “We had almost 70 players involved and 8 adults in the Grass Roots Coaching Course. The kids playing had a great time and many have signed up to continue playing Soccer as we get organised. Players loved all of the activities on offer and commented on how they got better as the evening went on”.

The day was designed to promote the game and with such a fantastic response from players and volunteers, it seems the area is ready for an organised football structure.
 
The Development Team was also surprised by the talent that shone through. Regional Development Officer Cristiano Dos Santos who was awarded Goal of the Tournament in the prestigious World Club Championships said that he had witnessed two better goals as the Copper Coast Stars shone through.
