South Australian Girls Selected for Westfield Australian U17 Women's National Team Training Camp
Westfield Australian U-17 Women’s National Team Head Coach Belinda Wilson has selected a 23-player squad, including two South Australian girls, for a training camp which will be held from 9–18 August 2013 at the Australian Institute of Sport in Canberra.
Both Alexandra Chidiac and Jessica Waterhouse from South Australia have been selected for the camp. Chidiac currently plays in the FFSA U14/15 girls squad while Waterhouse is a part of the Adelaide Olympic U17 boys team.
This camp will also include two friendly international matches against the New Zealand U-17 Women’s team which will be played on Wednesday 14 August and Saturday 17 August at the AIS Athletics stadium.
Wilson will be using the training camp and matches to prepare for the Asian Football Confederation (AFC) U-16 Women’s Championships, which will be held in China in September this year.
“This is my first opportunity to work with this group of girls as the head coach,” said Wilson.
“There are a couple of new faces in the group in comparison to the squad that played against Korea recently.
“We will be looking to improve on what we have been working on in training and applying that to international football,” concluded Wilson.
The AFC U-16 Women’s Championships 2013 is the official FIFA qualifying tournament for the 2014 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup Costa Rica.
