Notes:

 

  • The team who finishes in first (1st ) position at the conclusion of the Regular Season can nominate their preference to play the first (1st ) leg of their Semi Finals either at home or away, subject to venue availability and FFSA approval. 

 

  • Teams 1 & 2 will play-off over two (2) legs with the winner based on aggregate score advancing to the Grand Final. 

 

  • The loser of the Matches A1& A2 will be considered the ‘home’ team for the Preliminary Final.

 

  

Procedures to Determine the Winner of Matches in the Finals Series 

 

Semi Finals – Major Semi Final (Matches A1 & A2)

 

The FFSA 2013 Major Semi Final will be conducted over two (2) legs (home and away). 

 

The following criteria will be applied until one (1) team can be determined as the winner: 

 

a. highest aggregate of goals scored over the two (2) legs; 

b. highest number of away goals scored (away goals rule) over the two (2) legs. 

 

If the winning team cannot be decided based on the above criteria, then the following will occur immediately after the conclusion of the second (2nd) leg: 

 

a.     Extra time of two (2) equal periods of fifteen (15) minutes will be played in accordance with FIFA Law 8. 

 

If at the conclusion of both periods of extra time: 

 

a.     no goals are scored – penalty kicks will be taken in accordance with the FIFA Laws of the Game; 

 

b. both teams score the same number of goals – the away team will advance under the away goals rule.

Knock out Semi-Finals, Minor Semi Finals, Preliminary Final and Grand Final:

 

  • If at the conclusion of the FFSA 2013 Knock out Semi Finals, Minor Semi Finals (Matches B, C & D) Preliminary Final or FFSA 2013 Grand Final the scores between the two (2) teams are tied, then extra time of two (2) equal periods of fifteen (15) minutes will be played. In accordance with the FIFA Laws of the Game 

 

  • If scores remain equal at the conclusion of both periods of extra time, penalty kicks will be taken in accordance with the FIFA Laws of the Game, to determine the winner of the match. 

 

The winning team of the Final will then compete against Tasmania in a Semi Final game in the Inaugural National Premier Leagues 2013 Final Series.
