2013 Celebration of Football
Friday 27 September marked the Football Federation SA’s Awards Night – the 2013 Celebration of Football.
Held at the Adelaide Entertainment Centre and hosted by football identity Stephanie Brantz, the night saw 350 people from the Football Community unite and celebrate the 2013 Football Season.
Walking the green carpet under the Adelaide Entertainment Centre’s stunning orb were legends of the game Sergio Melta, Ross Aloisi, Carl Veart and Richie Alagich. Hall of Fame Inductees Arthur Di Fede and Bryan Hearn were joined by current stars including award winners Tony Hatzis and Jim Stavrides. Also receiving awards were the State’s elite and most promising match officials.
Joining them were the integral members of the football community, the tireless and hardworking volunteers, family and friends.
Dignitaries who attended the evening included the Shadow Minister for Recreation and Sport and Shadow Treasurer, the Hon Iain Evans MP and the Hon Tony Zappia MP. Other guests included Nick Bianco and Adelaide Chief Football Writer Val Migliaccio.
Attendees enjoyed premium wines from Brown Brothers along with beer and cider from FFSA partner Carlton United Breweries.
Following the cocktail hour guests moved in to the Theatre to be greeted by the night’s Master of Ceremonies, ABC’s Stephanie Brantz.
The evening saw FFSA NTC player Alexandra Chidiac be awarded the Shirley Brown Premier League Player of the Year award while Steven Grelli from Northern Demons took home the Bob Telfer Medal – State League Player of the Year.
2013 saw a similarity to the 2012 awards with the Sergio Melta Medal – Premier League Player of the Year producing a tie with both Tony Hatzis from MetroStars and Jim Stavrides from Cumberland United claiming the title.
Following the formal presentations and awards, 3-piece Adelaide band and DJ Switch Entertainment kicked-off the party which carried on late in to the night.
