Days 1-3 Wrap courtesy of Football Federation Australia

The 2013 National Paralympic Championships have been held in Coffs Harbour NSW this week resulting in the South Australia squad placing third after defeating Victoria 3-2.

The SA team scored all 3 of their goals before half time with Victoria unable to find the net. Goal scorers for SA were Ryan Kinner, Tom Goodman and Brayden Davidson.

Although 2 goals were conceded in the second half, the SA boys maintained their defence and were rewarded with the bronze medal at full time.

Football Federation SA Game Development Manager John Mundy said the team remained competitive throughout the Championships and he was proud of what they achieved.

“There were some hard and close matches but the boys performed well. They managed to beat Victoria twice which was great.

“Over all it has been a good week with all players committing, in particular Ryan Kinner. He has definitely been a stand out in the competition.”

Days 1 – 3 Wrap Up

Day 1
NSW vs South Australia
Final score: 3-0

In what was a nice moment prior to the match kicking off former Socceroo Alex Tobin former Socceroo presented NSW team with their playing shirts for the tournament as they look to defend their title.

The game between NSW and South Australia started with both teams being very calculated about the way they were going to play the match. Both sides were very patient when in control of the ball and it looked like it was going to be a good old arm wrestle.

Just as the day's first match played out the opening goal came from a penalty as Chris Pyne used all of his experience to slot it away easily and give his side a 1-0 lead at the half time interval.

NSW put in two goals shortly after the break to take the game away from the South Australians. The goals came in quick succession with Jack Williams scoring before Logan Campbell added the match's third and final goal a minute later.

Day 2
South Australia v Western Australia
Final Score: 3 -3

There was a lot of fight and vigour in this match as two of the newest teams put everything they had into getting the win. The first half saw each other try and break down the defence but both sides held strong until the interval neared.

Young Pararoo Ryan Kinner managed to break the deadlock between the two teams on 26 minutes when he scored his first goal of the tournament to give South Australia a 1-0 half time lead.

Soon after the break Thomas Goodman increased South Australia's lead to 2 after some excellent build up work but WA weren't going down without a fight.

Michael Debenham quickly hit back to make the score 2-1 before it was 2-2 after Chris Minutillo scored.

Goals continued to come with South Australia regaining their lead in the 44th minute after a goal from Brayden Davidson but they had no time to enjoy their lead as Chris Minutillo scored his second for the match to level the scores at 3-3.

The last 15 minutes saw an exciting arm wrestle as both teams attempted to find that winning goal but the match would end locked up at 3-3.

Day 3
Victoria v South Australia
Final Score: 0-1

This was yet another tight match where both teams found it hard to score. This was mainly due to the great goalkeeping working from South Australia's Tim Moore and Victorian Christian Tsangas.

However Tyson Buczko from South Australia managed to break down the opposition's defence in the 25th minute to score what would prove to be a decisive winner. It was also a great birthday present for Tyson who was celebrating his 18th birthday.
