Lady Reds v Newcastle Jets Round 3 Preview

Football Federation SA is pleased to announce the signing of Snezana Veljanovska as a Lady Red for the 2013/14 Westfield W-League season.

Australian born Veljanovska has previously played at Canberra United from 2008-2010, Melbourne Victory from 2010-2011 and returned to Canberra for 2011-2013.

Veljanovska will kit-up for tomorrows Round 3 must win match against Newcastle Jets at Burton Park and replace Bianca Gray who is out for 12 months following an ACL tear she suffered in Round 2.

Local Adelaide City Women’s FC player Daniela Di Bartolo has also been signed prior to this weekend’s game to finalise the squad.

Historically, encounters between the Lady Reds and the Jets have been a competitive battle; however the Reds currently place higher on the ladder and go in as favourites.

In the 2012/13 season Adelaide and Newcastle fought out a bottom of the table battle to avoid last place and when the deciding factor was goal difference, the two sides could not be separated.

Lady Reds head coach Ross Aloisi said that the girls are working hard on their fitness and there is still a little more to go to be where they want to be.

“Coming from our draw in Round 1 against Western Sydney Wanderers it was always going to be hard to follow up after playing on the large pitch at Marconi Stadium.

“Unfortunately we didn’t find the result we were after with Melbourne Victory but we have an experienced squad in comparison to the Jets, so hopefully this works in our favour on Saturday.”

Saturday’s match will also mark the 50th W-League game for Reds forward Racheal Quigley, who has played all 50 matches with the club.

Adelaide United Lady Reds take on Newcastle Jets Saturday 30 November at Burton Park.

Gates open 12:30pm, Kick-Off 3:00pm.

Adults $10, Concession $5, U16 FREE!
