Leesa Vlahos MP Visits Ladybirds

Local Labor Member for Taylor Leesa Vlahos visited the FFSA Ladybirds Girls Only Soccer Program on Wednesday 12 March at Burton Park Football Centre.

The Ladybirds invited Leesa to get her vote in a bid to help promote and increase awareness of female participation in football.

The Ladybirds program is currently being held on Wednesday afternoons and is a ‘come and try’ for girls aged 5-11 years. Up to 40 girls from local primary schools around the Salisbury area are currently attending the program.

Ladybirds is a fun, friendly environment in which to learn and develop basic football skills and consists of a half hour skills session and half hour of games. Games are played on modified fields with five participants on each team.

The Ladybirds program is structured around providing a positive introduction to football, with each session designed to suit the primary school age group. Each Ladybirds location is run by a dedicated centre coordinator/accredited coach to ensure the delivery of the best quality experience and coaching at each of our Ladybirds Centres.

Ladybirds is specially designed for young girls who may or may not have had an introduction to, or past experience with football. The program caters for learning basic skills which will not only develop their football but also basic motor skills. Ladybirds is designed for every skill and activity level while being fun and inclusive.
