SA U15's Futsal Champions

The Football Federation SA (FFSA) Under 15 Boys State Futsal Team were crowned Champions at the recent Football Federation Australia National Futsal Championships in Sydney.

The U15’s took out their opposition, New South Wales, in style with a 4-3 defeat in a highly emotive final. The squads Captain Louis Nye was additionally awarded Most Valuable Player of the match, adding to the fantastic result for the side.

Coach Chris Higgins noted that the performance was due to a tournament-long commitment from his side.

“It was a really great team effort, with the key factors being consistency and hard work throughout the week, leading to the reward of lifting the prestigious trophy.”

FFSA Game Development Manager John Mundy was pleased with the display by South Australian sides as a whole.

“This has been a remarkable tournament for FFSA, with 7 of our 12 teams making the semi finals and with the Under 16 Girls also making the final, unfortunately going down 1-0 to New South Wales in a tightly fought encounter.

“Having Phillip Cash from Whyalla, a country boy, picking up a winners medal, confirms that there are some great futsal players in regional areas and that there is an easily accessed, credible talent pathway through FFSA.”
