Junior Girls and Community Women's Cup Final Preview

The Junior Girls & Community Women's Cup Final’s are this weekend (Sunday September 4), at Elite Systems Football Centre with the event promising to be a fun-filled, action packed day of high quality women’s football.

The action kicks off at 9:00am.

The Under 13’s will be kick-starting the day with a clash between Adelaide Comets and Cumberland United.

Cumberland are looking to continue their dominance in the Under 13 division with a win in the Cup Final after their impressive season thus far which has seen them win all 17 of their games whilst only conceding one goal.

Comets come into the game sitting comfortably second on the table with only succumbing to two losses this season, both however to league leaders and rival finalists Cumberland United.

On paper it would seem like Cumberland United are the obvious favourites, although if any team were to claim victory against the Foxes this season, it would have to be Adelaide Comets.

The next matchup of the day will commence at 10:30am between Collegiate League sides Pembroke Old Scholars and Old Ignatians, competing in the Final of the Division 4/5/Collegiate Cup.

Old Ignatians will come into the Final with an abundance of confidence after defeating league leaders Seymour Old Collegians 2-1 in the Semi Finals, who up until that match were undefeated in all competitions.

Pembroke Old Scholars will look to improve on their previous two outings against Old Ignatians which both resulted in 4-2 losses and bring home some silverware for the mighty yellow.

The third match of the day will see rivals Metro United WFC and Adelaide City battle it out for glory in the Under 15 Cup Final at 12:30pm. The two sides have clashed twice previously this season, the first resulting in a 3-1 win for Metro, with Adelaide City getting revenge in a 4-1 win in the second.

Despite the two side’s current positions on the table, Adelaide City first and Metro United fifth, this is definitely anyone’s game and neither side can be counted out.

The action continues with the Under 17’s at 2:30pm, where Para Hills Knights Blue take on their very own Para Hills Knights Red in an all black & white clash.

The Knights Red have had an unbelievable season thus far, winning every game they’ve played in and will show no mercy to their club-mates turned rivals Knights Blue.

The Blue’s will be looking to prove to everyone that they can match it with the higher divisions and end Para Hills Red’s perfect season. Despite hailing from the same club, both teams will leave nothing out on the pitch in the hunt for victory, although no matter the result, silverware will be brought home to Para Hills.

Adelaide University and Metro United WFC will wrap up the day of football action at 4:30pm in the Division 1/2/3 Cup Final.

Metro United qualified for the Final after an impressive 2-1 win against Division 1 league leaders Noarlunga United.

Adelaide University come into the game sitting second on the table, 11 points clear of Metro, despite the two teams being unable to get the result in a 2-2 draw the last time the two sides met.

This game promises to be an exciting matchup with both teams having an equal chance at victory, with, like any Cup Final, the potential for anything to happen.

There will be appearances from current Adelaide United players as well as a merchandise stand to be accessed throughout the day.

Entry fees are $5 for adults, $2 concession and free for children under the age of sixteen.

There's ample free car-parking, undercover seating and canteen and bar facilities available.
