2016 Junior Girls Football Review

The Junior Girls Football season has came to the end in South Australia with approximately 60 teams competing across six leagues, ranging in age groups from Under 13’s to Under 17’s. These junior competitions are vital for the development of young talent as players strive to reach the highest level of female football. 

The Under 13 Girls Blue Division saw Adelaide Jaguars finish as Champions ahead of Adelaide City in second place. In a stunning 2016, the Jaguars remained undefeated throughout and also only conceded the one goal.

Cumberland United Green finished 3rd with and Cumberland United White finished just the point behind their friends at the Foxes in 4th. The second time the two Cumberland side’s met each this season resulted in a 19-goal thriller, with the final score being 13-6! Campbelltown City finished in fifth place.

Undefeated Cumberland United is the Champions in the Under 13 Girls Red Division, who, like the Jaguars, only conceded the one goal. Adelaide Comets secured second spot by 12 points with Adelaide University Red finishing third. Para Hills Knights finished 4th with Metro United WFC three points behind them in fifth. Para Hills beat Metro United in both games they met during the season with one game being a five-goal thriller.

South Adelaide and Adelaide Jaguars battled for top spot in the Under 15 Girls Blue with the Panthers eventually becoming Champions - both games between these two this season ended in a draw.

Modbury Vista and Fulham United Blue were separated into third and fourth by just the one point! Meanwhile, Adelaide City White only just finished one point away from 6th place.

First and second place of the Under 15 Girls Red Division finished equal on points but Adelaide City Black won by a margin of 11 goals on goal difference ahead of Cumberland. Adelaide City beat the Foxes both times they met throughout the season.  Fulham United Red was close to finishing 3rd but just couldn’t get there, while Campbelltown City finished 4th and Metro United 5th.

Adelaide City cruised through the Under 17 Girls Blue Division, finishing on 55 points while South Adelaide earnt second place on 48  points. Third place was a close race with Para Hills Knights Blue finishing on top of Munno Para Blue by two points. The game to determine this third placing ended in a 2-2 draw.

Para Hills Knights Red won the Under 17 Girls Red Division by 21 points. Second place was a battle between Metro United and Adelaide University Red; Metro came out on top defeating Adelaide University in both games. Cumberland United beat Adelaide Comets to fourth place on the league table.

The 2016 Season was very exciting and successful for all teams involved. Hard work and dedication from behind the scenes from each team was displayed to make everything happen.

Let’s get ready for the 2017 Season and build upon on the successful 2016 Season.
