Football Fedaration South Austrailia extends the sympathies of the entire State Football Community to all those affected by the Real Chapecoense tragedy.

Players and staff of the Brazilian squad died in a plane crash as they traveled to Medellin in Colombia for the Copa Suda Americana Final.

Early on Wednesday, November 30, Football Federation Australian Chairman, Steven Lowy AM, released the following on behalf of FFA.

"Football Federation Australia, on behalf of the football community in Australia, extends its deepest condolences to the families and friends of all those who have died in the plane crash in Colombia and the wider football community in South America.

Our sympathies are extended to the Chapecoense de Brasil football club in particular whose players and staff have been tragically lost on the eve of an historic cup final.

The fact that 20 media professionals also perished is a reminder that football is a broad community with many contributors.

On the day of our own Cup Final, our thoughts are also with Brazilians playing football in this country and the entire Brazilian community in Australia.

As a mark of respect, players from both Melbourne City FC and Sydney FC will wear black armbands in tonight’s Cup Final and there will also be a moment of silence to remember all those who lost their lives in this tragedy."
