Match Updates

Match One - Sporting CP Lisbon 4 Football Federation South Australia 0

FFSA were pitted against one of European football's best academies for their first game in Malaysia and despite the scoreline, put on a spirited showing.

Assistant Coach, Vlado Blazeka, says the group of young boys should be proud of their efforts.

"The boys never gave up and continued to play their own football throughout which received compliments from the opposition Coaches," said Vlado.

"When chatting to the Sporting Lisbon Coaches afterwards, they said the majority of their squad had played together for six or seven years."

FFSA's Under 12's had traied together for just 12 months. Our boys were up against Bunyodkor from Uzbekistan in their second group game on Tuesday.

Match Two - Football Federation South Australia 4 Bunyodkor 2

Team Assistant Coach Vlado Blazeka, said today's win against Bunyodkor was a great win against an Uzbekistan Club side which played a difficult style of football. South Australia were able to hang onto their 2-1 half-time lead and turn in a 4-2 win.

A win on the final day of the Group Stage will guarantee FFSA a place in the quarter-finals.

Match Three - Football Federation South Australia 3 NFDP Terengganu 0

FFSA secured its place in the quarter-finals of the 2016 SuperMokh Cup in Malaysia with a hard-fought win over a Development Squad from the host nation.

Assistant Coach, Vlado Blazeka said the Under 12's should be proud of their achievement - coming second in Group 1 behind Sporting Lisbon, highlighting that disciplined nature of the performance was a standout.

Quarter-final - Football Federation South Australia 0 Gimpo JiJ FC 2

Our boys fell at the quarter-final hurdle at the 2016 SuperMokh Cup in Malaysia. After finishing second behind Sporting Lisbon of Portugal in the Group Stage, they were paired with Group Two winners, Korea's Gimpo JiJ FC.

Assistant Coach, Vlado Blazeka, described the match as an unfortunate learning curve for his side.

"It's a sad way for the boys to lose," said Vlado.

"To dominate the game, not take our chances and then get hit on the counter, but that's why we're here, to learn."

Football Federation SA congratulates all the Under 12 Squad for their selection and efforts in Malaysia and thanks the efforts of Coaches, Richie Alagich & Vlado Blazeka and all team officials and parents.
