NEWS: GRFC Women’s Division One – Round 8 Review

DRYSDALE has jumped into second place on the GRFC Women’s Division One ladder after their convincing 5-2 victory over Surfside Waves in Round 8 of the competition last weekend.

The Friday night clash in Ocean Grove ended in a dominant victory for the visitors, as Drysdale showed more control on the ball enabling Nicole Carter and Serena Clapp to both net braces apiece. Olivia Smith netted the final goal for the victorious Drysdale.
The ‘Student Derby’ between second placed Kardinia International College and competition leaders Deakin Ducks ended in a close match which eventually saw the Ducks take all three competition points thanks to a 1-0 win. Madeleine Lee Gow scored the only goal of the game in the 30th minute.
Barwon SC and Geelong SC both had byes on the weekend,
In Round 9 action this coming weekend, Barwon will clash with top placed Deakin Ducks on Saturday afternoon at Deakin University in Waurn Ponds, while Geelong will play Surfside Waves at Shell Road Reserve in Ocean Grove on the Friday night.
The final game on the weekend will see the new second placed Drysdale host third placed Kardinia International College in the ‘Match of the Round’ at Howard Glover Reserve on Saturday.
