The Gippsland Soccer League Board is pleased to announce we have successfully lobbied Football Federation Victoria (FFV) for the inclusion of two Development Squads in the Under 13 and Under 15 Boys Metropolitan League Competition today. 

These teams will be the first Gippsland Development Squads included in the Metro Comp 2014 and next year the GSL will look to include further age groups including Girl’s Representative Squads.

This announcement is the result of the acceptance of the Accelerated Development Program jointly supported by all Presidents presented at a meeting in Mirboo North last September and supports not only our Talented Players, but also supports Coaches and Referee development as well.

This first step into the Metro Comp which will be the platform to begin our longer term plan to be included into the National Premier League in 3 years’ time. In the immediate future the GSL will be specifically targeting identified Talented Players aged between 12 and 15 from the Gippsland region to play against the very best competition available.

The GSL will be advertising shortly an Expression Of Interest for a Head Coach, Assistant Coach and Team Managers for both age groups for an immediate start. Future developments we will also require support from Gippslander's to provide Administrative and further holistic services, these needs will be communicated in due course. 

The GSL Board feels that this is a fantastic move forward in developing our home grown talent and providing ongoing opportunities now and long into the future. We look forward to implementing this new chapter in our history whilst also uniting our Gippsland Soccer Community.
