Congratulations to the 7 EGUFC boys, Kai McKeon, Adam Dunkley, Will Park, Zeb McLeod, Connor Andrews, Isaac Boulton and Reuben Obrien who represented the Gippsland Soccer League (GSL) at the recent Victorian Country League Football Championships in Ballarat.

The boys endured cold, wet and windy conditions over the 3 days of competition in Ballarat.

EGUFC's Kai McKeon representing as goalkeeper was tested by some strong opposition throughout the tournament.

With the under 16 boys finishing a respectable 3rd overall Kai said "we were a little disappointed with the outcome but it was a great experience to go to Ballarat and compete".

Under 14's GSL boys team were unbeaten through the qualifying rounds but were unfortunate to have 2 players out injured for the grand final. In a close grand final match Bendigo took the lead 2-1 until Bairnsdale player Adam Dunkley scored the important equaliser resulting in GSL and Bendigo sharing the honours of league champions.

Will Park, Zeb McLeod, Connor Andrews and Isaac Boulton all representing GSL under 13's had a very successful weekend of competition. All four EGUFC boys played a high standard of football and showed that the time spent playing under coach Chris Van Lambert  in the metro league has paid dividends in the development of the GSL under 13 team. GSL met old rivals Albury in the grand final. This match was expected to be close but GSL outclassed the experienced and well credentialed Albury squad by playing quality football and dominating the match with the result being a convincing 3-0 win resulting in GSL under 13's boys taking out the championship.

EGUFCs youngest representative player Reuben Obrien playing for the GSL under 12's boys also had a successful weekend. Reuben played in his usual attacking position troubling the opposition with his fast pace and penetrating runs forward. Reuben scored 3 goals overall during the tournament assisting his team to being championship runners up.

All of these young players showed that they were worthy of representative selection whilst also being great ambassadors for the East Gippsland United Football Club and our region.
