Half-Way, Full-Steam Ahead

The first ever season of U6F Basketball reached its halfway point at the completion of play on Saturday, 18 February 2012.  In the two games played on that day, there were a staggering 25 dunks.  As a further sign of the success of the competition, the team on top of the ladder beat the team on the bottom of the ladder by just one point.  It is truly anyone’s championship at this stage.

U6F officials from Australia are rushing back to Singapore to get more video footage of the high-action games.  A hallmark of the innovative league has been the popular videos uploaded on U6F Basketball’s YouTube channel.

Founder of U6F Basketball, Michael Clarke, is pleased but not surprised by the highlights coming out of the first season.  “For too long, the skills and athletic ability of shorter players have been under-estimated”, Mr Clarke said.  “You would be lucky to see 25 dunks in two NBA games.  If you give a 5’6” player the same advantages that a 6’6” player gets in the regular game, the results are impressive”, he went on to say.

As word spreads, interest in the new league grows.  Teams are starting to line up to be included in the next season.  As U6F Basketball goes from concept to reality, the future looks bright for players who have been treated as second-class citizens for too long.  Above the rim for all!
