2012 BVDL WOMEN AWARD WINERS

MOST VALUABLE PLAYER

In her first year of D League basketball, New Zealand born Shannon Perret has been a consistent performer for the Sandringham Sabres all season averaging 13.6pts along with 8.0rebs and 1.7ass.  Shannon managed seven double-double games in the season and scored 15+pts on twelve occasions.  19 year old Shannon, moved to Australia this year to further her game and was outstanding during the months of April and May, averaging 16pts and 9rebs, including 18pts and 11rebs against Ballarat on April 15 and Frankston on May 5.

COACH OF THE YEAR

After an illustrious basketball career before retiring last year, Megan Moody has provided the Bendigo Young Lady Braves with great leadership and used her outstanding basketball knowledge to guide Bendigo to their first ever D League playoff game.  Megan and her team had a disappointing season start, losing their first four games, but made their move mid way through the season as the chemisty started to gel and the confidence started to build.  The Young Lady Braves finished the year winning three of their last 5 regular season games to clinch the playoff position.

Megan turned a team of young inexperienced locals from a 5-16 record in 2011 to a 9-12 record in 2012 which will further enhance the pathway to SEABL level for younger Lady Braves players.
