Big wins for all teams ahead of last derby

Cobram Victory travelled to Kyabram on Sunday to take on the Phoenix and came away with convincing wins in all age groups.

The senior men started off strongly, jumping to a 5-0 lead in the first half, before taking the foot off the pedal and coming away with a 7-0 win.

The reserves had a massive 10-1 win with goalkeeper Nick Geurts turning into a striker for the match but failed to get on the score sheet — missing a penalty and an open header within 10 seconds of each other.

The reserves now need only one point to secure a finals spot and are still a chance to take out a top-two spot if they win both remaining matches.

The senior women continued their great form with a hard-fought and convincing 2-0 win against a determined fifth-placed Phoenix outfit.

The win secured Victory’s finals spot and takes it to equal second with Cobram Tigers, with this week’s match being massive in the fight for a top-two spot.

The under-14s also got back on the winner’s list with a convincing 3-0 win.

The under-12s had a massive 9-0 win to continue their great form and secure a finals berth.

This Sunday is the last ever Cobram derby, as Victory takes on Cobram Tigers at the Barooga Recreation Reserve.

It is also the last match ever for the Cobram Victory senior men’s side before the merger takes place next season and all past players, members and supporters are invited to the game to witness this historic day.
