BWA joins forces with SEDA to launch BWA Sports Development Program in 2016

Basketball WA and SEDA are excited to announce the launch of the Basketball WA Sports Development Program for 2016. The program is a unique offering, providing students in Year 11 and 12 with the opportunity to combine their passion for basketball with an exciting education pathway.

Launching in WA in 2013, SEDA has been at the forefront in providing a hands-on education program embedded in industry. Students have the opportunity to complete their Year 11 and 12, undertaking their WACE and nationally recognised VET qualifications in sport and recreation.

Students will have the opportunity to work alongside Basketball WA as a part of the signed agreement. Students will provide assistance at basketball tournaments, run basketball inclusion clinics for community groups including: all ability, multicultural and primary school children and provide association match day assistance. Students will also undertake coaching and officiating qualifications.

The Basketball WA Sports Development Program will empower students to pursue meaningful pathways upon completion of their Year 12. With a strong connection to industry, students develop real-world skills providing graduates with the opportunity to gain employment across numerous industries. Students also have the opportunity to articulate into a range of courses at one of SEDA’s university and RTO partners.

Comment Guidelines: The SportsTG Network is made up of players, families and passionate sports followers like you who have a strong opinion about sport. That's great - we want you to have your say and share your thoughts with the world. However, we have a few rules that you must follow to keep it fun for all. Please don't be rude, abusive, swear or vilify others. Apart from some pretty serious sport sanctions, we also can ban you and report you if things get out of hand. So play fair and have fun, and thanks for your contribution.
