Storm and Capitals will meet for the first in their history on London Summer League Opening Night.
When Storm were officially formed in Hemel Hempstead three years ago, after their previous incarnation moved from Edmonton, London Capitals were still in the BBL. Whilst Storm have rapidly progressed to EBL Division 1 since then, winning two Patron's Cups on the way, Capitals have slipped down to EBL Division 2 relegated in season 2011/12 as Storm were promoted.
With both teams likely to suit up the majority of their EBL rosters expect this to be a very tight affair. Only a points deduction and an injury in the play-offs to leading man Ibrahim Gariba denied Capitals an instant return to EBL1. Whilst Storm had a steady season in EBL1 finishing with an 11-15 record just outside the play-off places.
Storm as you'd expect from a Dave Titmuss led club are very team orientated with scoring spread across the rotation, a likely stand-out though is Storm Players' Player of the Year - Williamz Omope. The athletic forward will be expected to excel in the fast paced London Summer League 20 minute game format. Other key players could be 6'5" forward Armand Anebo a starter last season for National Cup winners Leeds Carnegie averaging nearly 15 points per game and Welsh international Ioan Nickson.
Although these two clubs were drawn out of the hat first for Quarter Final 1 and will meet the winners/losers of Lions v Westside from Quarter Final 2 - they will tip-off last on Opening Night to give Storm time to travel to SportsDock.
Expect this game to be a great finale to a spectacular night of London hoops.
