Souths United have initiated a player and coach recruitment drive as they seek to become a force in PlayStation® 4 NPL Queensland Open Women’s competition.

As part of an announcement for open trials for the club’s 2016 Women’s team, the club says it will provide “attractive player packages” to squad members next season.

The club is also currently advertising for the positions of head coach and assistant coach for the senior team.

The recruitment push comes on the back of a lacklustre 2015 campaign - the team winning just one of their 20 fixtures and conceding an average of 6.75 goals per match.

Souths United President Tracey Confessore acknowledged that the club was eager to strengthen its on-field return next season.

“With regards to the "Attractive Player Packages", yes this is an increase to what was being offered in 2015 in recognition of the level of competition and quality of players we are looking for with view to strengthen our squad performance for 2016,” Confessore explained.

“Souths United are clearly demonstrating our commitment to the Women's National Premier League and insist that through a strong coaching structure, exceptional facilities and playing environment which will be complimented by suitable player packages, the attraction will be draw the quality and depth of players necessary to be a force in this league.”

Confessore said the club is consciously providing the same level of support for their top women's side as they do for their top division of male footballers, who will compete in next year's fourth tier Capital League One competition administered by Football Brisbane.

“Packages will be designed specifically and individual to the level of marquee and pedigree but also recognising those rising stars of the future,” she explained.

The club is also currently advertising the positions of Technical Director and Goalkeeping Coach for the 2016 campaign.
