A horror leg injury to Madison Franke has forced the abandonment of today's PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Women’s match between SWQ Thunder Women and Souths United Women.

Franke incurred a badly broken ankle little over a quarter hour into the contest at Clive Berghofer Staidum after colliding with her own goalkeeper, Elizabeth Hollitt.

The seriousness of the injury required the assistance of the Queensland Ambulance Service causing a significant delay and resulted in match referee Sitha Mead abandoning the match.

Souths were leading 1-0 at the time of incident after Meaghan McElligott gave her side the early lead.

Under competition rules, the match will be replayed at a date to be confirmed later in the season.
