Golden Boot leader Kirsten Jamieson struck five goals as Olympic FC Women ran riot in a 9-0 win over SWQ Thunder Women at Clive Berghofer Stadium.

Jamieson’s goal blitz – her fourth haul of three or more goals this year - commenced only minutes after Elizabeth Doherty had edged the visitors ahead in the early exchanges.

Allira Toby also chimed in with a brace for Olympic, while Kara Mowbray rounded out the scoring with her first goal of the season.

Jamieson has now scored 26 goals in PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues Women’s competition in just seven matches this season.

The win is Olympic’s third in a row and sees the club move second on the table ahead of Souths United, who can claw back their position with a win on Sunday in the final match of the round.

The result marks a second straight defeat for Thunder and is their largest losing margin this year.

What They Said

“The girls have had a tough week and haven’t been able to train very well. Most of the team have been sick this week and I think today that showed. We couldn’t keep up for the full ninety. We started well and had a few good opportunities and, had they dropped, they may have changed the course of events. But in the end Olympic were far too good on the day and their finishing was far too clinical.“ – Anthony Bigby, SWQ Thunder FC Women assistant coach

“I’m not going to say it was our best game because we weren’t clinical in front of goal. But to come through when we’re not playing the best is a good thing. We will go back to training and work hard on finishing. I don’t think the score reflected the way we played. I don’t think nine-nil was the score it should be because I don’t think we played well enough to get that scoreline.“ – Natalie Tathem, Olympic FC Women captain
