Your efforts contributed to Sunshine Coast Futsal Association being crowned the Champion club overall.

 

 

 

 

Football Queensland hosted the inaugural Qld Futsal State Titles over the Easter weekend with Sunshine Coast named the top club in the State with teams winning four of the eight Age Divisions on offer.

The Open Men, 15 Girls, 15 Boys and 13 Boys all won their respective Age Divisions and were named Age Champions, with the Youth Men and 12 Boys gaining Runners Up status and the 14 Boys and 11 Boys placing third.

Justin Morrison, Director of Coaching at Sunshine Coast Futsal said, ‘It was an outstanding achievement by our Sunshine Coast Futsal teams, playing in a highly competitive tournament against many teams that have played together for a few seasons. Our teams had limited preparation prior to the competition so to achieve the results we did is a credit to our players and coaching staff. Due to time constraints and costs our teams only managed two training sessions which were held during the school holidays so for some teams it meant they didn’t get a chance to play together until the first game of the competition.’

Clubs participating in the State Titles included South Brisbane, North Brisbane, Gold Coast and Bundaberg, as well as a number of Barbarians teams made up from individual players across the State.

The State Titles doubled as trials for players seeking selection in State teams to represent Queensland at the FFA National Futsal Championships held in Canberra in January next year.

Justin said that, ‘The success of our teams would suggest that many of our players deserve selection in the Qld training squads for the National Titles.’
