Double delight for UEL Men's Basketball

They were lead by American star BJ McGill who managed a big 27 points and was amply supported by 17 from Will Ashby and 15 from Dougie Bennett.

The game started at a frantic pace in front of a large crowd at the Kingston College Arena. The game opened with two 3 pointers from Bennett and Jamie Hayes and set the game up for what was to be a tense affair. This was followed by some good finishing around the basket by the Kingston offence. The opening quarter finished 21-16 to UEL.

The second quarter saw subs being made thick and fast and Henry Utku came in to give some strong defence. Ashby added 7 of his points during that quarter but UEL were unable to break clear and the lead was 8 at the half.

The start of 3rd was the time when McGill took over with the opening 6 in the quarter. Some strong rebounding by CJ Simpson and Richard Lorde kept the East Londoners ahead. As Lorde put in a lay up at the end the quarter the lead had been pushed out to 12 at 60-48.

The 4th quarter went on and UEL managed to keep the lead at 12 with 2 minutes left in the game despite the Kingston fans best attempts. At this point the players must have thought it was done and let Kingston give them a scare.

Club Captain Bennett said "The UEL fans were great today and I'm proud of the team. It has been a long hard season and the double was well deserved."
