City Preparing for Cup Clash

Adelaide City is less than a week away from their Westfield FFA Cup Quarter Final match against fellow Member Federation side Bentleigh Greens.

City have been maintaining their fitness ahead of the must win clash and will be bringing a full strength squad to Melbourne next Wednesday for the match as they look to join Adelaide United FC in the Semi Finals.

Adelaide United qualified for the Semi’s on Tuesday night after defeating Sydney FC 3-1 in extra time.

Adelaide City have been training as they would during the regular NPL season, having only played 2 trial games since their encounter with Brisbane Strikers in the Round of 16. City played the Adelaide United FC team with a 1-1 result and the Adelaide United Youth League team with a 2-0 win.

Attacking midfielder Nicholas Bucco told that head coach Damian Mori has spent some time looking at the Victorian side they will soon face.

“Damian has been doing his homework on Bentleigh Greens. We know they are a quality team and are very much at the level of the top tier teams in our state.

“Damian compared them to reigning NPL Champions MetroStars, so we are definitely expecting a tough game like we would expect when we face Metro’s normally. We know it will be a really, really tough game.”

However this news doesn’t dampen Bucco’s thoughts on their chances of getting the result they are after on Wednesday night.

“We feel refreshed and ready to go. We are really excited about the prospect of travelling interstate to compete in a National Cup game.

“We are at full strength so really there are no excuses going in to the game.”

City will have a decent traveling party at the Kingston Heath ground to support them; close to 100 friends, family & Adelaide City supporter group members are expected to attend the match that is tipped to sell-out.

Bentleigh Greens v Adelaide City can be viewed live on Fox Sports, Wednesday 29 October from 7:00pm AEDT.
