Preview:

League leader Adelaide City will be looking to cement top spot when they host cross town rivals Adelaide Comets in their PlayStation 4 National Premier League South Australia Round 15 contest at Adelaide City Park.

Unbeaten in their past five outings, City have been in scintillating form netting thirteen goals along the way. League leading goal scorer, the lively Anthony Costa, has been a big contributor on the scoreboard for City with fifteen goals this season. He has been well assisted by the elusive Nikola Mileusnic who has also been damaging up front with an eleven goal haul.

Adelaide City, unbeaten at home this season, have made Adelaide City Park a fortress against opposing teams which will present Comets with a huge challenge.

Damian Mori will go into the game with the problem most of his rival coaches would be envious of in trying to select a starting eleven from a quality player roster. The Competitive nature for a starting role within City’s playing group is why they find themselves in a very healthy position at the business end of the season.

Comets after a flying start to the season have become stagnate with some indifferent performances of late, and will need to be at their defensive best, matching the work rate of City’s play makers Nicholas Bucco, Jordan Pudler and Thomas Love if they are to be a serious opponent on the day.

Comets will also face the task of trying to navigate through two solid pillars in the City defence in Paul Blefari, who has had a Stella month of football, and the ever reliable Mathew Halliday, if they are to have any chance of stealing points from the league leader.

The match up of Jack Bladen and Steven Grelli against the season campaigners in Bucco and Pudler in the middle of the park will be worth the admission fee alone. The victors of that contest will determine the end result on the score board.

Comets will have to endure three games in seven days to get over City. Fitness will play a big part in the final stages of the game, with fresh legs the order of the day, an advantage City will take into the contest.

Comets will come into the game buoyed with their 2-1 win in their corresponding round four game this season, but unfortunately for Comets they will meet a much stronger and committed Adelaide City side this time round, which makes for another fantastic encounter.
