Inglewood United announces the resignation of coach Michael Garcia, effective immediately.

Garcia, a former Australian youth international, cited work and family commitments as being behind his decision to relinquish the coaching reins after 18-months at the helm.

“While we are obviously disappointed Michael has stepped down as coach of Inglewood United, we fully respected his decision” said club president Ces Colli.

“Michael advised me yesterday that his work load and Inglewood commitments were affecting time with his family, and that this had left him feeling mentally fatigued.

“Michael is a person of great integrity and, as such, he did not wish to let the club, its players or himself down.

“He felt it best to step aside at this early stage of the season to allow the club to build on what has been an exciting and promising start. As a club we will move swiftly to minimise the impact of Michael’s departure.

“On behalf of the Executive, I thank Michael for his contribution to Inglewood United and wish him and his family all the very best for the future.”

Taki Nicolaidis will oversee preparations for this weekend’s QBE Night Series game at Cockburn City.
