Inglewood United reclaimed top spot in the PlayStation 4 National Premier Leagues WA after a come-from-behind 3-2 victory against Perth Glory at Inglewood Stadium.

A lively Nic Talimdzioski opened the scoring for Glory before John Migas, Josh Pereira and Kenny Keogh secured the win for Inglewood and Glory’s Jack Iredale was on target with a late consolation.

Despite the win, Inglewood assistant coach Saul Contera was not happy with the side’s defensive display.

“I am pleased with the result but not with our defending,” he said.

“We gifted them two goals. But there is a lot of team spirit and self-belief in our team. We can now look forward to next week’s game.”

Inglewood put early pressure on the Glory youngsters through a series of corners. Keogh came close to scoring but Glory goalkeeper Riley Stephenson denied the opportunity.

Glory were dangerous through Talimdzioski. After 24 minutes, the striker was rewarded for putting pressure on the home defence. He regained possession and scored with a clean finish.

Inglewood, however, quickly equalised with Migas tapping home from a corner.

Perth Glory coach John Gibson admitted his team had struggled to cope with corners.

“Set pieces will always be an issue for us in this league,” he said.

“There is a big difference in experience and in delivery. We were playing against a physically very strong side.

“We conceded some sloppy goals but I am pleased that the guys kept going. We want to improve, that’s why we are in this league.”

Inglewood demonstrated their physical superiority in the second half. Pereira scored after good work from Ash Rosindale.

After 72 minutes, Keogh extended the lead with a quality finish - his ninth goal of the season.

Iredale pulled one back in the 90th minute, heading home a corner but it was too little too late for Glory.

Inglewood face Bayswater City in a top the table clash next week.

Contera said the side are up for the challenge.

“Bayswater has been the benchmark in the NPL for the last three years,” he said.

“Everybody is trying to catch them. We will try to put pressure on them and make it difficult for them next week.”
