Brenton Jewell Celebrates 100 Games

Brenton plays his 100th game for the Mornington Breakers!

Captain of the Youth League team in 2014, Brenton is the only player that has been there since the registration of this team in 2010.
Brenton had previously been invited to join the Men’s team, whilst still playing Under 18's and did so for 1 season, this season once again due to excellent form Brenton has been elevated to the senior roster and is playing in both Youth League and senior men.
Brenton started his basketball career  approximately at the age of 8 in Domestic Basketball at Mornington in the Cobra's he thinks and has played in too many domestic teams to mention over many years at different associations; he also enjoyed playing for Flinders, his school team for many years.
He went into Representative Juniors in the Under 12's for Breakers, he enjoyed many years at Breakers before giving Frankston Blues a few years of his skills and competitive nature!

As a lot of players tend to do though, Brenton came back to us to finish his junior years out and with the call of a strong friendship group, combined with his talent he decided to go on and play Seniors, starting this during his last year of Juniors, by joining  the newly formed Youth League team playing in Div 2 in Big V.

In 2010, Brenton combined playing Juniors on the Friday night and also committed to the new Youth league Team; that year was an extremely tough year for a handful of players that decided to do this, as it meant 2 trainings for Under 20's, 2 for Youth League and playing Friday, Saturday and sometimes Sunday if Seniors had a double header!

2 Coaches, 2 ways to play the game, always playing sore and sometimes injured...that was all whilst also playing domestic...
Brenton has played with injuries to ribs, injuries to ankles, fingers and being concussed... he is a hard man to make sit off the court.
It takes guts, determination and a pure love of the game to do this and of
course you need to love your team mates, of which Brenton says, Anthony Pegg has been a player that he has loved playing with at Mornington.
Brenton has a lot of respect for Darren Gilbert the Coach of YL for season 2011, 2012 and 2013, he classes him as he favorite Coach and believed Darren cared about the players on and off the Court which was important to him and he forged a close relationship to him.

Reaching this milestone Brenton wanted to thank his parents, Julie & Gary for all their support and motivation, his best friend Andrew Ebbels and Danielle Brand, his girlfriend for also being there for him.
I've seen Brenton stand up for the under-dog, I've seen him lead beautifully, and I’ve seen him turn up to an away game (Altona) with no shoes!
He is a credit to our Club, he is an explosion of talent, a tough competitor always and we hope he always plays ball, wherever his passion takes him on his travels.

Congrats Brenton on your 100th senior game!!!
