Once again we go Around the Grounds to wrap-up all of the action from AFL Canberra’s lower grades.

It was a week of blowouts in Second Grade, with Queanbeyan and Tuggeranong both racking up over one hundred points. Belconnen continued their winning ways over Ainslie.
The Tigers continued their red-hot form in the Rising Stars with a come-from-behind win over Marist. Ainslie and Eastlake produced massive victories, meaning the competition’s top three all reaped the rewards.
ANU and Woden continue to battle it out in the race for the Third Grade minor premiership, both collecting the spoils. Batemans Bay knocked over Molonglo on the back of a dominant final term at home.
Harman and ANU cracked the one hundred point barrier in their respective victories in Fourth Grade as they both vie for top spot on the table. Woden joined them in the winners’ circle.
Cooma and Yass both snared vital wins in the Regional Grade, allowing them to kick clear of Tuggeranong and Ainslie in the finals race.
The Ghirardello’s were at it again for Tuggeranong in the Women’s Grade as the Hawks ran away with another victory.
Riverina and Belconnen were comprehensive victors, whilst Queanbeyan won a thriller over Gungahlin.
SECOND GRADE (ROUND 8)
Belconnen 13.12.90 defeated Ainslie 8.8.56
Patrick Horan was named Belconnen’s best as the away side collected their seventh win for the season. Daniel Posch kicked five goals for the competition front-runners, leaving Ainslie in third position on the competition table.
Queanbeyan 18.11.119 defeated Gungahlin 3.2.20
A dominant performance from the Tigers saw them move in to outright fourth on the table in a key win on the road to September. In each of their three victories this year, the Tigers have piled on over one hundred points, showing that they certainly know how to carry on with the job.
Tuggeranong 24.19.163 defeated Eastlake 3.2.20
A massive win from the Hawks nudged them just ahead of Ainslie on the competition table on percentage. Brett Ward was named as the victors’ Best on Ground after slotting four majors to take his season tally to nineteen.
RISING STARS (ROUND 8)
Queanbeyan 12.4.76 defeated Marist 9.3.57
The Tigers overturned a 25-point deficit at halftime to draw level heading in to the final term. A five goals to two performance in the fourth quarter ensured the black and golds would collect their fifth win on the trot.
Ainslie 16.16.112 defeated Belconnen 3.3.21
Eleven of the Tricolours players got their name on the scoresheet after they kept the opposition scoreless in the opening quarter. It was Ainslie’s second consecutive victory, as they remain third on the table, one win clear of fourth. Belconnen sit in fifth, two wins out of the top four.
Eastlake 23.19.157 defeated Tuggeranong 0.1.1
It was a case of David meets Goliath as competition leaders Eastlake met the winless Hawks at Greenway Oval. The Demons showed why they have been nearly unstoppable in 2015, booting 23 majors and conceding only a single behind in a dominant four quarter performance.
THIRD GRADE (ROUND 11)
ANU 20.13.133 defeated UC 3.5.23
Garry Earl-Spurr’s seven goals took his season tally to thirty majors as ANU recorded their eighth victory from ten outings in 2015. The Griffins took the ascendancy in the early stages and ran away with the game as Ryan Singleton collected Best on Ground honours.
Woden 15.14.104 defeated ADFA/RMC 10.11.71
The Blues continued their charge towards the minor premiership with a comprehensive victory over the Rams at Football Park. The Blues are establishing their home turf as a fortress, having not dropped a single game there all season.
Batemans Bay 15.11.101 defeated Molonglo 10.13.73
Just two points separated the sides heading in to the final term, but the Seahawks piled on six majors in the final term to run out 28-point winners. Shaun Green was named Best on Ground for the home side as they moved to within one win of fourth-placed Molonglo on the ladder.
FOURTH GRADE (ROUND 11)
ANU 19.14.128 defeated UC 7.5.47
A dominant first term from the Griffins laid the platform for their eighth win in ten outings this season. Lee Sloan slotted five goals for the hosts, whilst Jeremy Foster and Thomas Arthur each kicked two for the Magpies.
Harman 21.11.137 defeated Molonglo 7.9.51
Harman continued their run as competition pace-setters with another resounding win to make it nine for the season. More than half of the Hogs players kicked majors as they put in a dominant performance on the road at Hanging Rock Oval.
REGIONAL GRADE (ROUND 11)
Cooma 14.15.99 defeated Tuggeranong 6.3.39
Michael Johnston kicked four goals for the Cats in a Best on Ground performance at Greenway Oval. The win sees the Cats firm in to third position on the competition ladder, now three wins ahead of fifth placed Ainslie and sixth placed Tuggeranong.
Yass 19.11.125 defeated Ainslie 5.4.34
The Roos snapped a two-game losing streak with a thumping win over the Tricolours at Joe O’Connor Park. Douglas Watchorn was one of the home side’s best, kicking three goals to move his side closer to securing a finals berth.
Goulburn and Cootamundra had the bye.
WOMENS GRADE (ROUND 8)
Riverina 8.16.64 defeated ANU 1.0.6
Only four points separated the sides at quarter time, but following the break the Lions showed why they are one of the teams to beat, knocking over the Griffins largely off the back of a dominant second half display.
Queanbeyan 4.9.33 defeated Gungahlin 4.4.28
It was Queanbeyan who eventually prevailed in a nail-biter at Allinsure Park. It was a three-point game heading in to the final quarter, before the Tigerettes clawed their way to an upset victory, their fourth of the season.
Belconnen 9.11.65 defeated Ainslie 1.0.6
The Magpies proved far too strong for a determined Ainslie outfit at Reid on Saturday afternoon. Belconnen kept the opposition scoreless for the first three quarters of the match, ensuring that they would walk away with the points.
Tuggeranong 20.12.132 defeated Molonglo 0.2.2
The reigning Division One premiers continued their brilliant start to the 2015 season with a brilliant win over the Juggernauts. The Ghirardello’s were at it again, with Kathryn kicking nine majors and Annie slotting six. The win sees the Hawks retain the ‘Clash of the South’ Trophy.
