Ainslie Tricolours have kept their unbeaten record alive in Round 5 beating Queanbeyan Tigers 14.13-97 to 6.12-48 in an impressive display at Alan Ray Oval on Saturday afternoon.
They dominated all over the park to lead at every change. A 7.3-45 to 2.1-13 lead at quarter time set up the win as the Tigers could never recover from this deficit. 4 goals to Armstrong and 3 to Delves led the charge up front as the midfield delivery into the forward 50 for the Tricolours was superb.
The second quarter tightened up and the Tigers won the quarter by 3 behinds in a low scoring quarter scoring 1.6 to 1.3. Both teams tackling pressure increased as both jostled to get the upper hand in the second quarter.
The Tricolours took control of the third quarter scoring 2 goals and 6 behinds to 1 behind. Taking a comfortable lead of 46 points into the last change, 10.12-72 to 3.8-26.
The Tigers had their best quarter in the 4th scoring 3.4 but couldn’t keep Ainslie strike power out scoring 4.1 for the quarter. An entertaining match that really showed the firepower and scoring potential that the Tricolours possess.
The Tigers are a young yet strong side and are still one of the teams to beat in the competition.
Another win for Ainslie which is now shaping up to be a season of promise and the Tigers first loss of the campaign. They will definitely be searching to bounce back next week for Heritage round in a big way.
