Eastlake Demons vs Gungahlin Jets
Form Guide: Demons-WLL Jets-LLL
Ladder Position: Demons-5th Jets- 6th
Where: Manuka Oval
When: Saturday the 7th of May 9:00am
Last time they Met: Round 1 2016 Gungahlin Jets 5.14-44 – Eastlake Demons 17.15-117
First game of the season and the Demons smashed the Jets out of the park. The first two quarters was head to head, however the third quarter saw the Demons put their foot on the pedal and the Jets couldn’t keep up, making skill errors that cost them in the end.
The Demons and the Jets are in a similar position to last year with both teams at the bottom of the ladder. The Jets have lost all three of their matches, showing improvement in each game as the season has progressed. The Demons won their first game of the campaign against the Jets in Round 1 and have been close and competitive in the other games.
The Jets will be itching to get a win on the board after being close the last couple of weeks, while the Demons will fancy their chances for a win at Manuka Oval during heritage round. One big question in this game is which team will handle the early morning start?

Queanbeyan Tigers Vs Belconnen Magpies
Form Guide: Tigers: WL Magpies: LW
Ladder Position: Tigers-3rd Magpies-4th
Where: Manuka Oval
When: Saturday the 7th of May 3:00pm
Last time they met: 2015 GF: Belconnen Magpies 10.11-71 – Queanbeyan Tigers 15.5-95
The Magpies went into the Grand Final in 2015 undefeated and were expected to continue their force in the Grand Final. However, the Tigers were the underdogs who pounced from the shadows to snatch the premiership from the Magpies. Key contributors to the win were Paul Williams with 5 goals and Mark Armstrong with 4 goals.
After a long preseason stewing in their loss, Belconnen will come out with guns blazing, during their Heritage Round meet. Queanbeyan will be looking to bounce back from the loss against Ainslie last week.
Both teams will go in confident in their abilities to win, a tight contest, however when the final siren rings Belconnen will triumph.

Ainslie Tricolours vs Tuggeranong Hawks
Form Guide: Tricolours-WWW Hawks- LWW
Ladder Position: Tricolours- 1st Hawks- 2nd
Where: Manuka Oval
When: Saturday 7th of May at 5:30pm
Last time they met: Round 2: 2016 Tuggeranong Hawks 8.6-54 – Ainslie Tricolours 16.19-115
It was the first game of the season for both teams with the Tricolours showing how much firepower they really have after stepping down from the NEAFL. Accuracy and attention to detail could have seen the Tricolours win by a higher margin. Although rusty during their last meet, the Hawks have since developed some momentum early in the season.
The Tricolours have had a stellar start to the season and look incredibly well drilled with fluency in attack, a win during Heritage Round will give them an adequate amount of breathing space at the top of the ladder. After two wins against the Jets and the Demons, their meet with the Tricolours will be the true test.
It looms as another classic game at Manuka Oval to finish off Heritage Round. Being first and second on the ladder, a win will be pivotal for both teams. With their momentum as the season has progressed, the Hawks have shaken their first game jitters, however I expect the Tricolours to stay undefeated.

It is expected to be a cracker of a weekend at Manuka Oval with all teams and their clubs playing an important role on Heritage Round. All games will be a battle royale with 5th vs 6th 3rd vs 4th and 1st vs 2nd with all the results impacting the dynamics of the ladder. The Canberra Demons will be out to play in their first ever Heritage Round at 12:00pm against Aspley Hornets.
Hoping the Canberra weather is favourable so the supporters will be out in numbers to celebrate AFL Canberra’s history and their individual clubs.
