MELBOURNE has claimed Ainslie midfielder Aaron Vandenberg at No.2 in Wednesday’s NAB AFL Rookie Draft.
Vandenberg, who was named in the 2014 NEAFL team of the year, is a ball magnet.
He racked up a whopping 56 disposals in one match for Ainslie against Eastlake this year.
“Aaron’s from Ainslie and is a 22-year-old mature-age player, who has played consistent football in the NEAFL, particularly over the past two seasons,” national recruiting manager Jason Taylor told melbournefc.com.au.
“He’s a midfielder originally from Tathra on the south coast of New South Wales.”
He was regarded as one of the best midfielders in the NEAFL
