AFL Canberra will now field grades all the way up to fifth grade as part of the new AFL Canberra structure to be rolled out next season.
Following the announcement of the ‘AFL Canberra Senior Football League’ restructure last week, it was apparent that the lower grade competitions required a similar overhaul to allow for a competitive balance for all clubs.
Officially titled as the ‘AFL Canberra Community Football League’, which consists of Third Grade, Fourth Grade and Fifth Grade, the new structure will allow for a more consistent game day.
The Seven and Eight team structures will also allow for the competition to continue to expand as new clubs enter our league, and well as give each club the opportunity to play each team at least twice throughout the regular season.
Notable inclusions in the new structure is new team UC Magpies, which is the result of an exciting partnership with the University of Canberra and the Belconnen Magpies Football Club.
Woden Blues have also nominated to field a second side in 2015 for the first time in the clubs history. This is a fantastic achievement for the south side club, as they look to recruit new players to our great game.
