Stadium expansion update to all WBA members ………..

On Tuesday 21/6/16 at the City of Canning Ordinary Council Meeting, Council voted in favour of supporting our expansion project, subject to Federal funding approval.  Council also approved $40,000 for the consulting steps needed to prepare our applications for Federal & State funding.

The WBA Board sincerely appreciates this support from the City of Canning and looks forward to working with them to make the stadium expansion happen. 

The subsequent news from the Federal Minister for Regional Development that the Federal NSRF program will no longer include metropolitan regions was a disappointing development.

However, enquiries of Federal Coalition sources resulted in assurances that the Federal interest in funding our expansion project is very much alive, providing they are returned to Government on 2/7/16.  This interest is consistent with discussions during recent visits by the Federal Treasurer and the Deputy Treasurer.  We are expecting another visit by a senior Minister during this week and therefore yet another opportunity to promote our message to Canberra.

We are highly appreciative of the role played by Ben Morton, the Liberal Candidate for Tangney in promoting our project to senior Federal Ministers as part of his campaigning for the seat of Tangney.

We will update all members after the election as we make ready to go through the processes to apply for State & Federal funding support for our expansion project.
