Eighty members and their guests enjoyed a great afternoon at Christmas in July last Sunday July 31st.
Members and guests gathered in the bar for pre-lunch drinks whilst Stuart North from Ebony and Ivory prepared lunch in the club kitchen.
Commodore John Mooney welcomed guests and, after a delicious three course meal, 13 year old Nerida Willis gave a rousing performance on the club piano. Not only does Nerida have a wonderful talent, she performs with a smile on her face in a very relaxed manner. Betty Morrison also demonstrated her skills on the ebony and ivory and encouraged everyone to join in a few rounds of Jingle Bells, whilst Judy Hodgkins showed that her vocal cords are still finely tuned.
John Mooney led the traditional raffle, which included generous donations from South Bay Eco Tours, Taronga at Sorrento and The Blues Train. Once more a tribute to the generosity of club members, the raffle raised over $1,000 for Cottage By the Sea.
After lunch, many enjoyed the beautifully still and sunny winter's day with a walk down to the beach.
Many thanks to Glenda Fowler, Sam Davis and Michael Phelan for running the bar, and to everyone that contributed to making the day so successful.
