Just the one Peter Jackson VFL game today, with Port Melbourne going two games on top of the ladder with a win over Richmond.
They did it for captain John Baird who was playing his 200th VFL game with a 42-point win.
Let's look at how the top of the ladder Borough completed its win over Richmond:
Port win for Baird
Port Melbourne has recognised captain John Baird's 200 game milestone in style, with a 42 point win over Richmond at Punt Road Oval.
The Borough took control of the game after quarter time, with inaccuracy costing the visitors a bigger win at they dominated their opposition.
Trailing by a goal at quarter time, Port Melbourne kicked the first two majors of the second term to hit the front as Dan Connors added his second against his old club. Port had 12 scoring shots to one for the term, but could only manage three goals as they took a 15-point lead into the second half.
The back six were controlling the game for the Borough, with Sam Pleming setting up play from the half back line. Through the middle the likes of Baird, James Magner (31 disposals), Toby Pinwill, Mitch Wooffindin and Shane Valenti were getting plenty of the ball, and helped their side lead all the key disposal areas.
Port Melbourne put the game beyond doubt in the third term kicking five unanswered goals to race out to a 50-point lead. Richmond clawed back late with two late goals to trail by 39-points at three quarter time.
Port finished off the game winning the final term, to run out 42-point winners.
Baird showed he still has plenty of football left in him to be named best for Port, and was joined by the usual suspects in Pinwill (30 disposals), Wooffindin (29), Valenti (27), Pleming and Sandy Robinson in the ruck. Connors finished with three goals, and Adrian Bonaddio kicked two.
Liam McBean led the way up forward with two goals along with Mat McDonough for Richmond, with Shaun Grigg named the best in his return from injury, along with Ben Griffiths, Shaun Hampson and James Wall.
